Interim Executive Director Hired
In order to provide stability and minimize operational disruption during the current transition in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia's National Staff, the Fraternity has retained the services of Brother Edward A. Klint, Alpha Xi (University of Illinois) 1978, to support national headquarters operations. Brother Klint was named Interim Executive Director, effective Monday, July 22, 2013, and will function in that capacity until the position is filled permanently.

In this transitional role, Brother Klint will assume the management and supervisory duties formerly performed by the Chief Operating Officer, and will provide operational support for the volunteer leadership, National Executive Committee and Sinfonia Educational Foundation Board of Trustees. Brother Klint has also been engaged to assist the NEC in a comprehensive review of fraternity operations and services with a goal of determining a reorganized and streamlined staff structure that provides the roles, skills and positions necessary to support Sinfonia effectively and appropriately as we progress through our second century.

Brother Klint has served the Fraternity as a Collegiate Province Representative and Province Governor. He has previously served on the national staff as Sinfonia Development Director from 1983-84, and in the position of National Executive Director from 1984-87. Please join us in welcoming Ed back to the National Headquarters during our transition to a new and improved fraternity operations and services structure. Brother Klint can be reached at klint@sinfonia.org or by calling the National Headquarters.

“Sing As One” this Founder’s Day
Founder’s Day is October 6, and we’d like to encourage alumni to reach out to their local chapters to see what events they have planned in celebration. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with your initiating or local chapter.

If there’s no chapter in your area, please consider taking time to perform a personal Mills Music Mission (MMM), by sharing your time and music with others who need it most. Visit patients in a hospital or nursing home, perform at a senior center or local veterans organization, or share your love of music with students in a local school or after-school center. Our national philanthropy has enriched the lives of brothers and participants sense we reinstated the MMM to honor the memory and work of our Founder, Ossian Everett Mills.

If you are able to participate, we’d love to hear from you. Send pictures, provide some highlights of your experience, or simply tell us what you chose to do. Post your updates at www.sinfonia.org/mmmform or by emailing editor@sinfonia.org.

Additionally, all chapters have been encouraged to plan a Mills Music Mission to commemorate Founder’s Day. All brothers should feel welcome to add their voice to these MMMs, and to support our collegiate brothers as they fulfill our national philanthropy.

Sinfonia T-Shirt Design Contest
The first Phi Mu Alpha t-shirt design contest resulted in the “Circle S” shirt that is one of the best-selling items in the Sinfonia Store. The winning designer won free registration to the 2013 National Convention, which he graciously gave to a chapter brother who could attend.

We’re happy to renew this contest, and can’t wait to see what brothers are able to produce!

For all brothers, this is a chance to show off their design skills and creativity. Top prize includes several free t-shirts incorporating the design, and passes to the 2014 Leadership Institute. If the winner is unable to attend the Institute, another equivalent prize will be made available, or the winning designer can gift the passes to other brothers at their discretion.

For submission details, go to www.sinfonia.org/designcontest.
